HOW LETY’S HOUSE CAME TO BE
The symbol for Lety’s House is a monarch butterfly. Why? The monarch butterfly begins its journey like most butterflies, as a caterpillar-a very hungry caterpillar. In the same way, children begin their journey and feed on the richness and fullness that their environment allows. Lety’s House aims to provide our children with a healthy socio-emotional development as well as expand their minds through language development.
What makes the monarch butterfly unique is that the fourth generation makes a spectacular journey traveling as far as 250 miles a day until they arrive in central Mexico, in a forest outside the city of Morelia. This is an amazing feat for such a small, delicate creature. It also represents how far we want to see the children of Lety’s House go.
This is where the story for Lety’s house began. Leticia, or “Lety”, migrated like the monarch in search of a better future for her children. Nearly twenty years later and now each child of Lety is a part of the Lety’s House legacy. We have all come together, using evidence-based instruction to cultivate the children of Lety’s House through curiosity, truth, and a unique sense of community. Lety’s House is one of three locations
